Hello, beautiful people! My name is Sammy Espejo - the freelance photographer behind Shots by Samms.  I specialize in portraits, street photography, and numerous events (concerts, parties, music album covers, etc.). My subjects, however, vary on the situation. Since my current "full time job" is being a college student, I do not have any specified days/hours in which I do shoots. To set something up, you are more than welcome to shoot me an email and we'll go from there!

Why in the world am I a photographer, you ask? For starters, I've always been interested in photography since I was in middle school. My father was always taking pictures during my soccer games, family/school events, weddings, and when we travel - so I decided to do the same, here and there! When I went away to college, I had a devastating soccer career ending injury, which allowed me to focus my attention and passions into my yoga and photography. The journey, thus far, has been amazing.

 

Because of the area in which my school is located, I was surrounded by many different and interesting people and places - such as Downtown Norfolk and the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Since I am a Criminal Justice major and Psychology minor (with an interest in Criminal Profiling), I have a good eye when it comes to capturing the behaviors and effects/results of various subjects. This gives me an advantage, in terms of getting the perfect candid shot.  I enjoy photographing people, animals and places in their purest form. In other words, living and capturing in the moment situations is essential in my photography.
